CSR and Sustainability

Ever since the inception of NMC Pharma in 2018, there has always been a focus to create a social impact in the lives of the local community and minimise our negative impact on the environment.

Our CSR initiatives:

Distribution of Free Ration

NMC Pharma identified the vulnerable households in its local community which lack proper source of livelihood. These households lacked one of the most basic necessities of humankind – adequate food ration.

Our team distributed free ration to many such households as a part of our CSR initiative.

Free English Workshops

In order to improve the skills of employability among the youth NMC Pharma in collaboration with My Learning Guru conducted Free English Language Workshops.

Most of the underprivileged households lack proper source of livelihood. Livelihood is secured when the members of such households have adequate job opportunities. As per research, we have seen that youth with better English language abilities perform better at job and also have better paying job opportunities with them.

At NMC Pharma, we think that a business has its obligation towards the community in which it operates. Over the years, we have worked on various Social Responsibility activities in the areas of health, education and skill development. However, we are not mandated by local laws to spend on CSR it is totally a voluntary initiative to create a positive impact on our neighbourhood community.

Sustainability

Waste Management

The waste generated during the production and processing of our products was previously discarded which ultimately ended up to the landfill.

In our effort to reduce our negative environmental footprint we came up with following solutions for waste management :

  • We streamlined our processes that led to reduction in waste
  • Waste measurement, monitoring and setting reduction targets
  • Use the waste from oil expelling activities as an animal fodder thereby supporting local households with cattle and livestock

Less Paper More Trees

Trees are among the most important resources for the survival of mankind. The rate with which trees are getting cut pose a threat to the very existence of humankind. Less trees means lower chances of our survival !

In our efforts towards a sustainable future, we launched a campaign to reduce use of paper in our operations as well as in our shipments. After this campaign, the paper invoice of the customer orders is now replaced by e-invoice.

Energy and its Usage

Apart from purchased electricity, our business operations need fuels like diesel and natural gas. While there is negative carbon footprint associated with purchased electricity the combustion of the above fuels also produce Green House Gases (GHG). After the implementation of our sustainability strategy we have reduced our reliance on non-clean fuels like wood and coal to 100%.

With GHG monitoring mechanism is place, we have been able to measure our annual GHG emissions. With GHG data in place, we have been able to easily set targets to reduce our negative footprints on climate.

Water Management

Water is one of the most vital requirements for the survival of human beings on earth. The use of water in industrial process has put a pressure on the ground water table due to which the water levels have gone down drastically in many parts of India.

We have implemented a robust process for measuring the water we use for various business activities. The practice of reduce and reuse is being followed due to which we have been able to save upto 90% water consumption in some of the processes.

Responsible Business Practices

NMC Pharma conducts business in socially responsible and climate conscious manner. It is sensitive towards the impact of its operating activities on the climate and measures annual carbon and other GHG emissions from business operations.

We measure our annual water intake and the impact it has on our environment. The waste generated from our business activities is also measured and accordingly targets have been set to reduce our negative footprints on the environment.
